25 engraved business card holders for professional contacts
Engraved business card holders with a deliberately subtle logo. For Zaalberg & Van Dolder Advocaten, a law firm in Heerlen, SDLG engraved the firm’s logo on 25 brown PU business card holders. They were intended as corporate gifts for prospective referrers and professional contacts. The project was completed in October 2026.

The request: an understated corporate gift
A corporate gift should reflect the organisation giving it. For this project, the law firm chose brown holders with a subtle engraving on the front. The logo needed to be precise, without a strong contrast overpowering the holder’s understated appearance.
SDLG assessed the supplied vector logo and selected its position. The firm’s name and the word ‘Advocaten’ needed to remain recognisable together on the textured PU surface.
A test engraving before the production run
Before engraving the full batch, SDLG made one test engraving for approval. It showed how the logo’s lines and contrast would look on this particular brown PU material.
The test showed that insufficient laser power produced too little contrast, while repeated passes could cause black specks. For these holders, SDLG therefore selected slightly more power in a single pass. This achieved the intended precise, subtle engraving. It was a choice for this tested product, rather than a general setting for every type of PU.

Once the test was approved, all 25 holders were engraved with one laser pass per item and then dispatched. This preparation also matters in batch engraving: the result on the actual material determines the approach.
The result: a logo that suits the product
The firm received 25 corporate gifts with an even, understated logo engraving. The brown material’s texture remains visible, while the fine lines and subtle colour difference make the logo recognisable.
“The result is masterful: very precise and with just the right degree of subtlety. We have found our go-to place for laser engraving! Highly recommended.”

Frequently asked questions about engraved business card holders
Can my logo be engraved on a PU holder?
We assess each product individually. Send your logo, a photograph and the holder’s material information. Its composition, texture and colour help determine whether laser engraving is suitable and what contrast is achievable.
Engraved business card holders: which logo file should I supply?
Preferably send the original vector logo, for example as an AI, EPS or suitable PDF file. Placing a photograph inside a PDF does not make it a vector image. Supply text with its formatting preserved or converted to outlines, and keep an editable original yourself. If you only have a PNG or JPEG, send the highest available quality so we can assess the options.
Specify which logo version to use, its intended width and its position on the holder. A photograph with dimensions helps us assess the available space. See our artwork and file preparation guidance.
How do we agree on the appearance before a batch?
For this project, SDLG made one test engraving for approval. For your enquiry, we discuss the checks or sample needed before producing the batch.
