Careful choices make the difference

Brand plate engraving as your product signature

A brand plate shows who made a product. It can be subtle on furniture, prominent in a presentation or a small identifying detail on a suitable object. It does not need to be large: its proportion to the product and a carefully chosen position determine the appearance.

SDLG checks whether your logo and any tagline remain legible at the actual size. Very small lettering may need a simpler logo version. Consider the mounting method and surface too. A position touched during use has different requirements from a sheltered area on the back.

Options

A recognisable maker, long after delivery.

A brand plate emphasises your company name or logo. This differs from a plate containing all technical product information. First choose what the customer needs to see and how much space is available. This keeps the design readable and appropriate for the product.

Machines and equipment

A compact plate makes your name visible on the housing. If model, serial number and technical fields are also needed, compare identification plates.

Furniture and interior fit-outs

A subtle logo can identify a piece of furniture or an interior component. Consider visibility, contact with hands and the surface to which the plate will be attached.

Product ranges

Keep the fixed layout consistent and add an individual number if required. For variable information, explore batch engraving.

Choices & specification

The plate and the product need to work together.

01

Material and appearance

Stainless steel, anodised aluminium and suitable engraving laminate each have a different surface and engraving result. Compare the required appearance with your product: subtle tonal marking or a clear contrast. For your own plates, specify the material and any coating. Engraving does not automatically reproduce logo colours; we select the process for material, readability and use.

02

Dimensions and detail

Measure the available area and specify the required overall dimensions. Plate thickness, corners and mounting space affect its appearance on the product. Small lettering and fine lines must remain readable at the finished size. Sometimes a symbol without a tagline works better. We discuss simplification with you and keep text clear of edges and holes.

03

Mounting and environment

Show us the mounting surface: flat or curved, metal, wood, plastic or a finish applied over it. For holes, supply the diameter and centre measurements; for adhesive, the surface, temperature and cleaning conditions matter. Specify outdoor use and contact with hands or objects. We agree mounting and any surface preparation separately.

A brand plate identifies the maker of a product. For technical or legally required information, you supply the content and requirements; we discuss them separately with you.

Preparing your enquiry

This helps us get started.

  • A photograph of the product and required position.
  • Available width and height, ideally with a dimensioned sketch.
  • Logo, exact text and any variable information.
  • Quantity, material preference and mounting method.
  • Indoor or outdoor use and required delivery date.

After initial contact, email a vector logo, dimensioned sketch and photograph of the mounting position; see our artwork and file guidance. For each variant, state a reference, plate dimensions, material, quantity and any numbering. When replacing plates, photographs and dimensions of the original are useful. Specify whether you are supplying blanks or want SDLG to arrange them.

From idea to proposal

What affects the price?

Material, plate dimensions, quantity, finishing and logo preparation determine the price. Different sizes, individual numbers or mounting holes may need extra preparation. Give the quantity per variant and tell us whether this is a one-off order or you expect repeat batches. The proposal specifies which plates, engraving and mounting provisions are included.

SDLG works from Breda and delivers products throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. Visits, drop-offs and collection at Heusing 10K are by appointment only. Tell us your preference when enquiring; we agree the schedule, packaging and shipping costs. See our contact details and workshop directions.

Your first idea is enough to start a conversation.

Useful to know

Frequently asked questions.

Have a different question? Ask us about your project.

What is the difference between a brand plate and an identification plate?

A brand plate mainly identifies your business or product. An identification plate usually contains several technical fields. Both purposes can be combined if the size and readability allow it.

Can you engrave our logo in colour?

Engraving does not automatically reproduce the original logo colours. The visible result depends on the material and finish. Tell us if exact brand colours are essential so we can discuss a suitable option.

Can we reorder the same plates later?

Repeat batches can be discussed using the earlier specification. Supply the order reference and quantities. We check material availability and any changes again.

Can a serial number be added beside the logo?

If there is enough space, this can be discussed. Supply numbers in a checked list and retain any leading zeros. We agree the data structure beforehand when several variable fields are combined.

Can the same brand plate be used on different product models?

Yes, if the dimensions, position and mounting suit every model. Supply the available space and a photograph for each model. We reassess logo detail for different sizes; simply shrinking a logo can make small lettering unreadable. A consistent layout with several size variants can retain recognition.

Can you engrave my own blank brand plates?

We can assess this. Provide material, coating, thickness, dimensions and quantities, with photographs of both sides and any holes. Mention adhesive or protective layers too. For an unfamiliar combination, we discuss whether a trial is needed. Deliver plates only after suitability and the approach have been agreed.
