Stainless steel laser engraving
Stainless steel laser engraving adds your logo, name or serial number to a suitable product. SDLG engraves or marks suitable parts and customer-supplied products, from individual items to repeat batches. We assess the material and proposed execution in advance.

From our workshop
Stainless steel tags with individual identification codes.
This photograph shows a completed series of stainless steel tags. Each plate has a different code and a fixing hole. The example shows how individual items can be identified within a series, with a consistent shape and engraving position.
Requesting a similar series?
Tell us the quantity, plate dimensions, required engraving dimensions and fixing method. For variable codes, we ask for one checked list after our initial contact. Let us know whether you will supply the plates or need us to source material.
The fibre laser engraving field is a maximum of 120 × 120 mm. This is the engraving area; product shape, access and clamping are assessed separately. Please wait for confirmation before sending products.
Technical background: Trotec on metal engraving and marking.
The fibre laser has an engraving field of 120 × 120 mm. Please give both the product dimensions and the requested engraving size. Send a photograph for assessment before bringing or shipping your product.
Stainless steel laser engraving: design and readability
A small logo near the edge creates a different impression from a large central design. On a technical part, identification may matter more than decoration. We check whether your artwork can be reproduced on the selected surface at the actual engraving size.
Fine lines that look clear on a large screen may disappear on a small object. A brushed surface, the direction of the grain and the viewing angle can also affect the appearance. Our separate fibre laser is rated at 20 watts. Its 120 × 120 mm field is not the maximum overall product size: shape, height, access and workholding must also be assessed.
What should your marking communicate?
A brand logo, a person’s name, an article number or a short technical label each has a different purpose. Explain who will read the marking, where it should appear and how the product will be used. A separate identification plate may be more appropriate if marking the original component is undesirable.
Surface finish and product shape
The same design can look different on brushed and polished stainless steel. Tell us if the surface is coated or treated and provide the steel grade or product information when available. Bare metal and a coating may require different approaches.
Flat plates and curved products require different positioning. For suitable cylindrical items we use a rotary attachment, with a maximum product diameter of 130 mm. Diameter alone does not establish suitability: the shape, free space and workholding also matter.
If the part has functional, hygienic or other particular requirements, explain these before processing. A marking alone does not certify the product or guarantee its durability under every condition.
Prepare your enquiry
- A photograph, steel grade and surface finish where known.
- The overall product dimensions and requested marking size.
- The logo or text and its position.
- The quantity and any different serial numbers.
- The intended use and preferred receipt date.
An original logo or vector file is useful. If you only have a photograph or sketch, send it for assessment first. Artwork can be sent by email after initial contact.
Single items and repeat batches
Preparation, engraving area, the number of positions and quantity all affect the quotation. For recurring work, a fixed design and a clear list of variable numbers help us agree the execution. Different numbers or names should be linked to the correct product in one checked list.
Supplying products and arranging delivery
You can bring or collect products in Breda by appointment. Shipping is available to the Netherlands and Belgium. Please discuss customer-supplied products before shipping them. We then agree packaging, delivery arrangements and any shipping charges.
Lead time: 1–5 working days, subject to stock availability. For larger projects, we agree the lead time with you. The schedule is confirmed after checking stock and execution. Split deliveries may be discussed where appropriate.
Common questions
Will every engraving have the same colour?
No. The material, finish and selected process influence the contrast. Describe the result you want. We discuss what is feasible and whether a sample is needed.
Is engraving the same as black marking?
Not always. Engraving removes material, while a mark can also be produced by changing the surface. State whether you need visible contrast, a tactile engraving or a particular depth. We assess the appropriate method without promising one colour or depth in advance.
Can a small part carry a QR code?
Size, contrast, curvature and clear space around the code affect readability. Provide the code, requested position and intended use. A sharp source image alone does not guarantee a scannable result.
Can I provide my own stainless steel product?
Yes, subject to assessment. Send a photograph, material details and dimensions before bringing or shipping it.
Do you cut stainless steel?
This service concerns engraving and marking suitable stainless steel products. Metal laser cutting is not a standard service through this enquiry route. Any requested engraving depth needs a separate assessment.
Discuss your stainless steel project
Tell us the product, quantity, requested marking and dimensions. SDLG is based at Heusing 10K in Breda. Contact +31 6 51 50 21 11 or info@sdlg.nl. You can discuss your project in Dutch or English. An enquiry is not an order; we discuss the execution and an offer before starting.
