Careful choices make the difference
Chopping board engraving that considers how the board is used
A board with your company logo can be a business gift, an anniversary gift or a recognisable presentation item for hospitality. The engraving position deserves attention. A small detail near the edge serves a different purpose from a large design in the centre of the working surface. Tell us whether the board is intended for chopping, serving, presentation or decoration.
Wood species, grain and any existing oil or varnish affect the appearance. A board with several glued sections can respond differently across the surface. SDLG checks the logo and level of detail against the board. Food-contact suitability and care remain dependent on the selected product and its instructions.
Options
Let the board serve its purpose.
A subtle logo near the handle can be enough to personalise a serving board. For a chopping board, everyday use of the working surface matters. We therefore start with the position and size of the engraving. Wood species and natural grain give each board its own appearance.
Business gifts and Christmas hampers
A board with your logo or thank-you message can suit a carefully presented business gift. Explore other engraved corporate gifts if you want to combine products.
Hospitality and presentation
A small engraving can suit a presentation board. Specify how it will be used and cleaned so the product and position can be selected accordingly.
Personal to each recipient
Combine the same company logo with an individual name, thank-you message or sequence number on each board. This keeps the batch consistent while giving each recipient a personal item. Include the number of variations in your enquiry; we agree the artwork and name list beforehand.
Choices & specification
Wood and positioning determine the character.
01
Choosing the board
Beech, bamboo and other woods can respond differently to the same engraving. Consider size, a handle, any juice groove and the available flat area. We discuss a suitable model and check availability for your quantity.
02
Space for the design
A logo near the handle can display your brand while leaving the centre clear. A larger message may be the focus of a gift. Show on a photograph or sketch how the board lies or is held; we use this to agree positioning and reading direction.
03
Natural variations
Wood grain and glued sections can create differences in tone. A dark engraving will therefore not look exactly the same on every board. We consider this when assessing a batch.
For food use, cleaning and maintenance, follow the selected product’s instructions. Engraving itself is not a food-safety certificate. Discuss the intended use and any finish beforehand.
Preparing your enquiry
This helps us get started.
- Chopping board, serving board or your own selected model.
- Material and dimensions, with a photograph if supplying your own.
- Logo, name, date or short text.
- Required position and number of identical or different engravings.
- Number of boards, intended use and required arrival date.
Send the original logo or exact text after initial contact. For different models, match each name to the right board and specify the quantity. A clear scan helps if you want to use handwriting. See our artwork guidance to prepare your design.
From idea to proposal
What affects the price?
The board model, quantity, engraving size and number of text variants determine the proposal. For a seasonal gift, we agree availability and timing before confirming the order.
SDLG works from Breda and delivers products throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. Visits, drop-offs and collection at Heusing 10K are by appointment only. Tell us your preference when enquiring; we agree the schedule, packaging and shipping costs. See our contact details and directions to our workshop.
Your first idea is enough to start a conversation.
Can you supply the boards and engrave them?
We discuss a suitable model and check availability for your quantity. If you already have boards, send the model, material, dimensions and photographs through our service for engraving your own products. Deliver them only after the specification has been agreed.
Can each board have a different name?
Yes, this can be included in your enquiry. Supply a checked list and specify whether the logo and position remain the same on every board.
Can the logo go in the centre of the chopping surface?
We assess the position in relation to the board’s use and care. A subtle detail near a corner or handle is often more practical. We agree the position with you.
Will all engravings in a batch look identical?
The design can be the same, but wood is a natural material. Grain and composition affect contrast. If a very specific result is required, we discuss a suitable sample beforehand.
Can an engraved wooden board go in the dishwasher?
Follow the selected board’s care instructions. Wooden boards are generally cleaned by hand; prolonged moisture and heat can affect the wood. Engraving does not make a board dishwasher-safe. Specify intensive hospitality use and your preferred cleaning method when enquiring.
Can a handwritten recipe or message be engraved on a board?
Send a clear scan of the handwriting or recipe with the required dimensions. Line thickness, contrast and text quantity determine legibility. A short passage or title can work better on a small area than a complete recipe. Any artwork preparation is agreed beforehand.
