Embroidery or DTF for workwear: how to choose
Compare embroidery and DTF by fabric, artwork, placement and daily use. Prepare a clear workwear enquiry for SDLG in Breda.

Embroidery or DTF: the short answer
Choose embroidery when a compact logo, visible thread texture and a structured finish suit the garment. Consider DTF when the design contains many colours, fine details or a larger image. There is no universal winner: fabric, placement, artwork and daily use determine the appropriate method.
Compare the result on the actual garment
Embroidery forms the design with thread and adds texture. Small letters and fine lines may need simplification to remain legible. A large, dense embroidered area can make lightweight fabric feel stiff or distort it. DTF, short for Direct to Film, transfers a printed design onto the garment using heat and pressure. The print forms a layer on the fabric; the size and coverage affect how that area feels.
A chest logo on a sturdy polo is a different brief from a colourful back design on a promotional T-shirt. Jackets, fleece, stretch fabrics and coated materials also need assessment before choosing a finish. Do not assume the same artwork and settings will work on every garment.
A practical comparison
- Small, simple chest logo: compare embroidery for its thread texture and readability at the intended size.
- Many colours or fine illustration: consider DTF and assess detail, coverage and fabric compatibility.
- Large artwork: compare weight, flexibility and comfort on the garment.
- Intensive use or washing: describe the intended use before selecting the garment and finish. Follow the agreed care guidance.
- Repeat orders: record the approved artwork version, dimensions, position, garment model and colour.
