Practical information
Artwork and files for personalisation
A good result starts with clear files and product information. Find out what helps with laser engraving, embroidery, printing and signage.
Your idea first, the final file afterwards
You do not need production-ready artwork for your first enquiry. Describe the product, quantity, personalisation and required arrival date. After our first contact, you can email files to info@sdlg.nl. SDLG checks the logo and level of detail in combination with your product.
Logos and drawings
If you have the original logo or design file, please send it. For logos and line drawings, a vector file such as AI, EPS or a suitable PDF is often useful. The file contents matter: putting a photograph in a PDF does not make it a vector image.
Preferably supply text with its formatting preserved or converted to outlines, and keep an editable original yourself. Tell us which version of the logo to use. If you only have a PNG or JPEG, we assess what is possible; send the highest quality available.
Photographs and images
Sharpness, resolution and the final size matter for a photograph. File size in kilobytes is not a reliable quality standard. Preferably send the original file, without a screenshot or unnecessary reduction. Describe the important part of the image and how large it should appear on the product.
A photograph does not transfer to every material in the same way. Lighting, contrast, material texture and the process affect the result. Suitability is discussed for each application.
Laser engraving: product, position and design
- Product information: provide the material, finish or coating and overall dimensions. After our first contact, send an overview photograph and a close-up of the engraving area. A product link or specification sheet helps with unfamiliar materials.
- Position: describe the required position, reading direction and engraving dimensions. Show edges, handles and protruding parts. A photograph with measurements helps; a photograph alone is not a dimensionally accurate production drawing.
- Specification: include the logo, text or variable names and numbers, plus the quantity of each product variant. An engraving does not automatically reproduce your logo colours. Material and processing determine its appearance.
Explore laser engraving or have your own products assessed first. For laser cutting, we also need the material type, thickness and a drawing with units of measurement; see laser cutting.
Textiles: sizes, names and logo positions
- Garments and quantities: list the quantity for each model, colour and size. Tell us whether SDLG should supply the garments or whether you already have them. For your own clothing, we first assess the fabric, finish and accessibility of the required position.
- Logo by position: specify, for example, left chest, back or sleeve, and a preferred width. Provide a clear overview if there are different logos or positions. Small lettering and fine lines require different choices for embroidery and printing.
- Personal names: match each exact name or number to the correct model, colour, size and quantity. Keep fixed logos and variable data separate, and check the longest name against the available space.
Already have an embroidery file? Tell us which fabric and size it was used for; we assess whether it is suitable. Still choosing a technique? Compare embroidery and printing or start with workwear with your logo.
Signage and print: size, surface and use
- Printed materials: specify the product, finished size, quantity, single- or double-sided printing and any variants. For business cards , supply checked contact details for each person. For flyers , the purpose, distribution and desired action help us prepare.
- Stickers and large-format print: tell us where it will go, the required size and whether it is for indoor or outdoor use. A photograph of the surface helps. Viewing distance, attachment and finishing affect preparation; use the agreed product specifications for bleed, colour settings and cut contours.
- Lettering and installation: for a vehicle, send photographs of the sides to be lettered and include its make, model and year. For windows or a facade, we need overview photographs, checked dimensions and the installation location. Mention existing lettering, seams, obstacles and accessibility.
A design example on a photograph is not final measurement data. We agree the specification for the actual situation. For vehicle lettering and facade signage , supply and installation are offered in Breda and the surrounding area. Products can be shipped throughout the Netherlands and Belgium; installation is not offered nationwide.
Names, numbers and variants
Use one checked list with one row per version or recipient. Put the item or variant, colour, size, personalisation and quantity in consistent columns. Check spelling, accents, leading zeros and duplicates. Give the final version a recognisable file name and identify any version it replaces. Use the same project reference in your email. Share only the personal data needed for production. Read more about batch engraving.
Bringing or shipping your own products
Send photographs, material information and measurements first. Mention coatings, fragile components and the required processing position. Bring or ship your products only after the approach has been agreed. Visits to Heusing 10K in Breda are by appointment only. See engraving your own products and contact and directions.
