Workwear samples: what should you check?

Assess the logo, placement, appearance and comfort on the chosen garment. Prepare a clear sample check for your SDLG clothing order.

When is a workwear sample useful?

A digital design helps agree placement and dimensions. A physical example may also be useful when you need to assess how a logo, print or embroidery looks and feels on the chosen garment. Examples include a new garment model, a different fabric colour or small lettering. Discuss with SDLG which checks your team order needs; a physical sample is not a standard part of every enquiry.

Start with the garment, artwork and use

Specify the brand or product code, colour and required size. If you have not selected the clothing, describe the work and appearance you have in mind. Lightweight T-shirt fabric, a piqué polo and a fleece jacket each need the personalisation assessed for that garment.

Send the logo and intended dimensions. Describe placement from a recognisable point such as the neckline, and explain whether names or job titles vary between garments. A product photograph or approved previous item helps communicate your expectations.

What should you check?

  • Readability: are small letters and gaps clear at actual size?
  • Placement: assess the garment flat and worn, allowing for seams, pockets and zips.
  • Appearance: compare colour, contrast and texture under normal lighting.
  • Comfort: assess fabric flexibility and how the decorated area feels.
  • Care: follow the garment label and agreed decoration guidance. Discuss intensive washing in advance.

Record a specific approval

Keep photographs and record the garment model, colour, artwork version, dimensions and placement. Describe changes precisely, for example moving the chest print two centimetres higher. Agree which version becomes the reference before the batch is produced.

A different garment model or fabric needs reassessment. Approval on one article does not automatically establish the result on every other garment.

Discuss your checks with SDLG

Send SDLG the artwork, clothing choice, quantities by size and preferred date. Explain whether you intend to supply the garments and what you want to inspect physically. Execution, any sample costs and scheduling are discussed beforehand.
