    Careful choices make the difference

Clothing embroidery: translating a logo into stitches

Embroidery has a texture you can feel. Its appearance comes from stitch construction and thread colours, rather than simply placing an image on fabric. Thin lines, small letters or gradients may need adaptation. SDLG checks which details are achievable at the required size and on the chosen garment.

Assess a chest logo at the distance from which it will be seen and against the garment colour. Subtle colour differences can look elegant but read differently from high contrast. For a large back design, the stiffness of the embroidered area and comfort matter too. We discuss artwork, fabric, position and size before agreeing the specification.

    Options

A considered detail for your team.

Start with when your team is seen. A subtle chest logo works at reception; for outdoor work, a jacket and name position may play a different role. We help keep the same brand identity recognisable on different garments.

    Polo shirts and sweatshirts

A compact logo gives a restrained business appearance. Explore branded polo shirts for more about fit and fabric.

    Jackets and workwear

We assess the accessible position, fabric and any lining. Describe how the clothing will be worn and your team’s practical requirements.

    Name or job title

A name or job title can accompany the logo. Specify the exact text and position for each garment.

    Choices & specification

Logo, fabric and size work together.

    01

    The design

Your logo is digitised into an embroidery file: instructions for stitch position, direction and sequence. Small letters, thin lines and gradients cannot be copied directly. We assess how to simplify detail while keeping the logo recognisable.

    02

    The garment

A firm polo shirt, stretchy sweatshirt and lined jacket behave differently. Fabric structure and stretch affect the embroidery. Seams, pockets and lining limit access. Tell us about waterproof layers or other functional properties beforehand.

    03

    The position

Consider chest, sleeve or back. Large, dense embroidery can make the fabric firmer locally. We consider size and comfort. Thread has its own sheen, so a brand colour on screen is not an exact prediction of the result.

A compact logo with clear lines is often a useful starting point. For a photograph, gradient or large campaign image, compare clothing printing . An embroidered chest logo and printed back can form one identity.

    Preparing your enquiry

    This helps us get started.

    • Logo or text in the best available quality.
    • Position and approximate size.
    • Quantities per size and any names per garment.
    • Required date and delivery location.

Already have an embroidery file? Tell us its format and previous use. You can email files after initial contact.

    From idea to proposal

    What affects the price?

Garments, digitising the embroidery file, stitch count, positions and quantity determine the proposal. A small chest design and large back logo need separate calculations.

We deliver embroidered clothing throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. Meetings to discuss garments and logos in Breda, and collection, are by appointment. Specify receipt date and delivery location; see our contact details and directions.

Your first idea is enough to start a conversation.

    Useful to know

    Frequently asked questions.

Have a different question? Ask us about your project.

Can I use the same logo size on every garment?

This may not be the best choice. Jackets, polo shirts and caps have different areas and seams. We assess recognisable proportions per item. An existing embroidery file must also suit fabric and size; resizing it does not automatically give the same result.

What should I supply for different names and garment sizes?

Make one list with garment model, colour, size, name or job title, embroidery position and quantity on each row. Spell names exactly as they should appear. This matches each personal detail to the right item. Specify any extra clothing without names.

Can my existing logo be embroidered?

We assess it at the required size. Fine details may need simplification or letters may need to be larger to stay recognisable. These changes are discussed before the design is produced.

Embroidery or printing: which suits better?

This depends on the garment, artwork and required appearance. Embroidery adds texture; printing may suit larger areas or more colour detail. You do not need to decide beforehand.

Can I supply my own clothing?

Send item details and quantity for assessment first. Fabric, construction and access must suit the process. Supply clothing only after the specification is agreed.

    Can I reorder clothing later?

Include the earlier order, model, colour and required quantities. We recheck availability and suitable specification. Keep your previous order details for reference.

    For a personal gift too

    A name on baby clothing.

Want a name on baby clothing or another small fabric item? Send the product details for assessment first. Fabric, stretch, size and access to the embroidery area determine suitability. A large or dense embroidered area does not automatically suit a small, soft garment.

We discuss the name, letter size and position alongside the item’s use and comfort. If embroidery is unsuitable, we can assess whether appropriate printing is possible. For your own fabric item, we agree the process before you bring or ship it.
